“Picking up the Pieces”: At a yard sale I attended years ago I bought a plastic bread bag of fabric "scraps" for 50 cents. I found it was packed with 10 complete Dresden plate quilt appliqués and 3 dozen cut-out butterflies, in fabrics reminiscent of the 1940s and 50s. Also included were hundreds & hundreds of ovals already cut out though from more recent materials. To expand on the tremendous amount of work someone had already done, I designed this quilt to incorporate as many of the pieces as I could. Hence the title.
“Cottage Beauty”: This pattern was in an American Patchwork and
Quilting magazine a few years ago - a Pat Sloan pattern. I decided to make it scrappy. This is my first "New York Beauty"
style quilt. I decided to try out some
Free Motion Quilting designs on this quilt from Leah Day's website. As you can see, each block is done with a
combination of different designs. It was
a long process to make this quilt, but it was definitely well worth the effort!

“Over the
Top”: A companion piece to
"Imagination". Since I don't
like to make the same quilt again and I really like embroidery work, I tried a
type of "crazy" quilting embroidery in cotton - this is it. Inspired by Pauline Love's Program a few
years ago where each one of us had to make a patch for a crazy quilt. This quilt took about 2 1/2 years.Junior Quilter Award: Brynn created this as part of our challenge project.
